Below is a double-disc mixtape and documentary from Greavo and California Mike, scholar-folks in North Carolina. It is accompanied by a mass of excellent prose, reprinted below, including notes to all tracks. Take em together and it is a heck of a journey. The book from which these all come has a helpful authors' preface, cut here for space reasons. The full interview tapes can be heard in the Southern Historical Collection of the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill.
These two mixes, if at moments elastic in tangent, are wonderfully pleasing and appropriate at all times. Enjoy.
